On the weekend of 01.04. - 03.04.2022, six of the senior Junior Rangers from Maun Senior Secondary School together with all eight trainers from FEYS were at Makgadikgadi National Park on the Boteti River in a Junior Ranger camp on the theme of human-wildlife conflict in cooperation with Elephants for Africa.
The camp is the second camp for the older Junior Rangers and part of the project "Biodiversity and Species Conservation", which runs until June 2022 and is financially supported by the Schmitz Foundations. This time, all trainers of our partner organisation also participated to deepen their knowledge on the topic.
The participants went on game drives in the bush together with the trainers from Elephants for Africa, set up cameras to observe animals and learned how to evaluate the recordings. This time they also visited farmers living near Kumaga village. The young rangers were able to ask the farmers many questions about their life in direct contact with wild animals and their methods to protect themselves from the destruction of their crops by elephants, for example.
Once again, the young conservationists were thrilled by their experience in the bush and very impressed by the educational work that the trainers from Elephants for Africa are doing!
We would like to say a big thank you to EfA for making this camp possible!
