Last Saturday, the first Waste Art exhibition was opened in Maun at the Nhabe Museum.
Together with young artists from local organisations such as Rhino Conservation Botswana, Women against Rape, Shelter Botswana and Bana Ba Letsatsi, our Junior Rangers also exhibited their artwork. The young environmentalists wanted to draw attention to the rubbish problem, which also has tragic proportions in Botswana.
The opening was a great success! Many guests from Maun and the surrounding area came and the director of the local Ministry of Education praised the commitment of the young artists in her opening speech. Botswana TV was also on site to report on the exhibition.
Our special thanks go to the artist Sandi Albertson, who introduced the children and young people to the topic of "turning rubbish into art" in her exciting workshops, as well as to our cooperation partner for the art project Katja Visser from StartUp4Kids and the trainers from FEYS!
