Two new projects in 2021

April 2021
Projekt

Dear friends and supporters,

we have good news! And we would like to share it with you!

We are happy to announce that we have received funding for two wonderful projects that will take place this year!

The project "Sustainable Nutrition for Children, Youth and Young Adults will start soon and will be financially supported by the Lower Saxony Bingo Environmental Foundation.

The idea of planting vegetable gardens and integrating the topic of "sustainable nutrition" into the Junior Rangers' training plan arose from the supply shortage that the Corona Pandemic brought to our young trainers. They planted a vegetable garden on the club grounds, which is now being expanded and will serve as a project garden for the young environmentalists.
Starting in April, additional gardens with vegetable beds and fruit trees will be created both at the home of the partner organization's trainers to provide them with a long-term supply, and at five schools participating in the Junior Ranger program.
In the future, we would like to expand the project and establish school gardens at all schools participating in the Junior Ranger program so that as many children as possible learn to grow vegetables for their own consumption. This is very important in Botswana because hunger and malnutrition is widespread.

The second project, which is funded with financial support from the Schmitz Foundations, deals with the topic of "Biodiversity and Animal Protection" and will begin in July 2021.

Trainers from our partner organization will introduce the young environmentalists to the complex topic of biodiversity and species protection on a weekly basis over the course of a year. There will be camps lasting several days, with lectures by experts in elephant and cheetah conservation, for example.

Another novelty we are happy about is our new educational material on mammals and species conservation. The booklet "Mammals around us" has recently arrived in Botswana and will soon accompany the Junior Rangers during educational sessions and field trips.

We would be pleased if you would like to support us in the projects described above. A large part is taken over by the foundations mentioned, but a personal contribution remains to finance the projects. Items such as travel expenses of the trainers to the educational sessions and catering for the Junior Rangers during the training sessions are largely covered by us. In order to ensure these expenses, we continue to rely on the support of our sponsors.
