The Knyphausen Foundation receives a visit from 'waste professional' Klaus Schätte from Germany, who has already carried out various wasteprojects in developing and emerging countries and offered to share his knowledge.
With the help of the local education consultant Joyce Malema, the Knyphausen Foundation founds the waste management project following various schools in Maun. In small groups, the so-called "Environmental Club", 30-40 children are taught the topics of waste separation, recycling and waste avoidance across the ages. Both theoretical and practical lessons take place regularly at the schools.
